HIV/AIDS Information Summit

PSRML, in cooperation with the California AIDS Clearinghouse, will sponsor a one-day HIV/AIDS Information Summit, to be held on the UCLA campus, and tentatively scheduled for March 19, 2003. The Summit will be a forum for representatives of groups who are involved in HIV/AIDS information access and delivery, such as health care practitioners, librarians, students, and community-based organizations, and will provide an opportunity for these groups to share information and concerns, and develop action plans to address unmet information needs. Details about the Summit are available at http://nnlm.gov/psr/aids_summit.html. A seven member Steering Committee has been formed to plan the Summit. Members of the Steering Committee are:

  • Alan Carr, Chair, PSRML/UCLA
  • Joe Cavan, Council of Community Clinics, San Diego
  • Mark Etzel, UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute
  • David Fletcher, Plumas County Public Health Agency
  • Lisa Smith, UCLA School of Public Health
  • Scott Stumbo, UCSF Center for AIDS Prevention Studies
  • Phaedra Torres, California AIDS Clearinghouse

Biographies of Steering Committee members are available on the Summit Web site. The Steering Committee held its first planning meeting on August 27th at the UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library. The meeting included a discussion of format and content of Summit sessions, as well as a tour of the conference facilities.
