Update: HIV/AIDS Information Summit

Plans continue to progress for the HIV/AIDS Information Summit, sponsored by PSRML, in cooperation with the California AIDS Clearinghouse. The Summit will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Covel Commons Conference Center on the UCLA campus. The mission of the Summit is to define common challenges and identify potential strategies to improve the coordination and electronic dissemination of accurate and current HIV information. Participants at the conference will include representatives from such groups as health care practitioners, librarians, students, and community-based organizations. PSRML will provide financial assistance to attendees. Details about the Summit, as well as online application information, are available at http://nnlm.gov/psr/aids_summit.html. The application deadline is February 28, 2003. If you are interested, please apply, or forward the information to others in your institution or community who have an interest in HIV/AIDS information.

Two keynote speakers will be featured at the Summit: Gail Wyatt, Ph.D., UCLA AIDS Institute Associate Director, and Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences; and Laurence Peiperl, M.D., Director of the Center for HIV Information, UCSF AIDS Research Institute. The remainder of the day will be devoted to breakout group discussions and recommendations for future action regarding dissemination of HIV/AIDS information. Please direct comments or suggestions to Alan Carr at acarr@library.ucla.edu.  AC
