Congratulations are in order for Lisa Marks, librarian at the Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Library in Burbank, CA, who received a PSRML Library Professional Development Award in March. Lisa will use the award to attend the 1999 Intranets '99 Conference and Expo in San Francisco in April. Her goal is to enhance her library's profile and service contribution within her institution's healthcare system by developing a regional intranet. The intranet will include a variety of library and information services and integrate external databases to improve information access to users at multiple sites.
If you have a plan for improving access to information or developing new library and information services for your healthcare institution, and need help expanding your knowledge and skills to put that plan into action, you should consider this award. PSRML has renewed funding for the next contract year (see article on page 10 for more details) and encourages hospital librarians in the region to apply. A description of the award and the criteria and procedures for application are available on our Web site at: http://www.nnlm.nlm.nih.gov:80/psr/lat/v7n5/award.html
