Train-the-Trainer Workshop on Health Resources
Purpose of workshop: Increase the ability of the participant to help others provide health information to the public
Audience: Librarians willing to train other librarians/staff in their institutions
Class size: 10-12 participants
Length of class: Half-day
Requirements: Training facility with a computer/projector for instructor and a computer for every 1-2 participants; flip chart or white board, and markers; name tags; sign-in sheets; evaluations; folders with handouts (linked below) and promotional materials (these can be ordered online by NN/LM librarians)
Format: Instruction with audience participation; demonstration with hands-on activities
Objectives: Increase the librarian's
- awareness of the healthcare and online health information environments
- health reference skill level
- ability to decode medical terminology
- knowledge of the services and resources of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Library of Medicine and the National Library of Medicine
- knowledge of other reputable online health resources
- ability to use these resources effectively
