| Trauma-Informed and Relational Care for Libraries - Part 2 | This is a two-workshop series to introduce trauma-informed care tools. The first workshop will focus on what is and isn’t trauma-informed through a set of reframes. We will then focus on how to better navigate shifting power dynamics from a lens of liberatory power by examining the trauma-informed reframe: Power Over to Power With. In the second workshop, Nisha will focus on the impact of feelings and needs in your everyday work life, and she will introduce trauma-informed communication strategies based on her Trauma-Informed Communication Framework. |
| What the Thermometer Misses: Heat Risk Perception and Trusted Intermediaries | This session examines why official heat-risk measurements and community perceptions do not always align. Using research from South Carolina residents, participants will explore how trusted intermediaries, including libraries and community organizations, can help reach populations missed by formal communication channels and assess local risk perception more effectively. |
