NNLM Region 3 Student Development Award

The goal of this program is to introduce the future LIS workforce to the health sciences, trusted National Library of Medicine (NLM) resources, and develop their professional skills. Awardees will attend the Annual Meeting of the South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association (SCC/MLA), October 24-29, 2025 in Little Rock, AR. Additionally, with coaching from a talented NNLM professional, each awardee will deliver a 20-minute (approximate) virtual presentation on an NLM resource or NNLM priority in December 2025 as part of an online webinar series hosted by NNLM Region 3 (Health Bytes with Region 3). Awardees may have additional opportunities if applicable.

Eligibility

Generally, 501(c)(3) organizations, as well as local, county, or state funded entities, are eligible for funding from NNLM Region 5. Applicants must be from an institution that is a member of NNLM Region 5. Membership is free and open to institutions interested in improving access to health information. 

Only one award per Network member organization will be made during the current grant year. Awards will be available on an ongoing basis until funds are depleted. Payment will be made to the applicant’s host institution.

To receive funding, applicant’s institution must invoice the University of Washington (UW) no later than March 20, 2026. In order to invoice the UW, the institution must be registered as a UW supplier (for information on registering, contact Region 5 Grants Manager Lisa Guerrero via email: guerrl@uw.edu)
