Subaward Project
Citizen Science Kit Collection
With this funding, we plan to build eight Citizen Science Kits, as outlined on the SciStarter website, for patrons to check out from the library. We will build two of each of the following kits: Exploring Biodiversity, Measuring Light in the Night, Monitoring Air Quality, and Observing Pollinators. The kits will be available to Troy patrons of all ages as part of our STEM kits collection. This project will introduce patrons of all backgrounds to citizen science and to SciStarter resources and projects. It will also encourage patrons to go outside and learn more about the natural world around them. Ultimately, this project will allow patrons who are underrepresented in the STEM community to be an active and valued participant in scientific study.
