Subaward Project

NAPC Promotion Award

The North Liberty Library looks to improve our presentation system for our community of seniors by acquiring a large screen television and microphone speaker system. Every Friday, the library and Recreation Department host a senior lunch that provides a social hour, a meal, and a presenter. The library has just begun an additional social gathering for our senior population which rotates a series of activities centered around the purpose of promoting social connection. Both events promote general wellness for our 55+ community through connection as well as direct health information and activity (e.g., chair yoga or games) following the meal. While we regularly serve the maximum number of participants for the space available, there is an ongoing difficulty in both events. Many participants experience hearing and vision impairment which underscores the need for this request. The equipment will provide improved lighting and contrast from the television and enhance the audio volume and clarity, allowing our seniors to better participate in the presentation and activity portions of these events. There are multiple ways for All Of Us to be involved in the project and to further expand the reach of the NAPC. The two senior events often include a presenter, and we would gladly welcome the NAPC and NNLM. A sign or plaque will be attached to the stand for extended marketing of the project depending on the preferences of the NAPC. The audiovisual system would be available for regular library use adding to the reach of any included signage.
