Subaward Project

Celebrating Hawaiian Cuisine Through Cooking and Nutrition Education

Sacramento Public Library will partner with the NNLM All of Us Program Center and All of Us Research Program to participate in outreach, and distribute information about All of Us in order to engage with community members in enrollment and retention for the All of Us Research Program. Additionally, we will feature Hawaii-based author, Alana Kysar, in a series of virtual cooking demonstrations highlighting Hawaiian cuisine, and equip patrons with copies of Kysar’s cookbook. We will partner with YMCA of Superior California to teach patrons nutrition education to lower risk for diabetes and how to make recipes in Kysar’s cookbook at libraries throughout our system. We will also hold blood pressure screening clinics and host heart health and diabetes education classes with American Heart Association.
