Transforming Healthcare Education Through Immersive VR at Fresno State
The Fresno State Library seeks to expand its Virtual Reality (VR) resources to enhance technology-driven education, particularly in health sciences disciplines such as physical therapy, nursing, kinesiology, and public health. With growing demand from faculty, students, and community institutions, this project aims to develop a state-of-the-art VR Learning Center within the Fresno State Library, providing immersive learning experiences that improve health education and digital health literacy.
Building upon previous initiatives, this project will focus on expanding VR hardware and software, enhancing dedicated learning spaces, and integrating VR into coursework and cutting-edge research and AI integration through strategic collaboration with faculty and local clinical and health science-related institutions. Additionally, it will offer training sessions and workshops to familiarize students, faculty, and staff with VR applications in healthcare education while promoting authoritative health information resources from the National Library of Medicine (NLM), such as MedlinePlus and PubMed.gov.
By equipping the library with cutting-edge VR tools and fostering interdisciplinary engagement and collaboration, this initiative will position Fresno State Library as a leader in innovative library services and a hub for immersive learning technologies in California’s Central Valley.
