Subaward Project

Professional Development D. Nahal

I have been selected to present my research poster, “A Critical Review of the Effect of Water
Insecurity Across the Life Course,” at the 2025 American Public Health Association (APHA)
Annual Meeting and Expo in Washington, D.C. As a Student Peer Academic Mentor at the
Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library, I support students and faculty in finding and using
reliable health information resources such as PubMed and MedlinePlus. Attending APHA will
help me expand my skills in health communication and data literacy, and strengthen how I teach
others to access and apply National Library of Medicine resources. This aligns directly with
NNLM’s mission to improve health information access and workforce capacity. UNT Health has
a College of Public Health that trains future public health professionals, such as myself. This
conference, in particular, is geared towards public health and will allow me to gain a better
understanding of how public health professionals communicate and disseminate research-related
information.
