Lauren McQuistin
About the Author
Author description

Lauren McQuistin is trained as an operatic soprano, winning the district round of the Metropolitan National Opera Competition three times and performing as a soprano in Europe and North America. She uses her experience as a musician to teach trauma informed musicianship, and has been featured in the Journal of Singing for her research on the subject of trauma’s impact on the voice. No Lost Causes is written from her own experience of getting sober young, and facing the challenges of getting your life together when you feel your life hasn't even started and you're stuck in the space of already too far gone but not bad enough. Lauren runs the instagram page @brutalrecovery. She has been creating content there for five years, for recovering humans looking for identification, and a message with equal parts humour and hope.
