  • When you search PubMed for a phrase, or multi-word concept, its powerful search features jump into action to retrieve relevant results. Sometimes, however, you may want to use advanced search techniques to look for exact phrases or variations on a phrase. This tutorial will address the questions:

  • What are preprints, and how are they changing how biomedical research results are shared?

Should you use information from preprints? Should you share your own research results in a preprint? This course from the National Library of Medicine® explains the basics of preprints, and explores the benefits and considerations of using and submitting preprints.

  • If you’re new to PubMed or just want a refresher this online class is designed for you. The class is made up of 10 short units (listed below) that include videos, hands-on exercises and short quizzes. The class gives you the chance to explore PubMed at your own pace. • PubMed maps your search terms to Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®) to augment your search with additional terms from the vocabulary that NLM uses to describe articles in MEDLINE®/PubMed. Take this course to better understand how PubMed uses MeSH and how you can take control of your PubMed topic searches for better precision or recall.

  • This webinar series provides attendees with current information on data sharing requirements and best practices as it relates to biomedical research. Participants will be able to stay current on recent trends and resources through the various webinars.

  • When conducting research, evidence-based practice is a method for framing clinical questions that will help yield optimal search results. PubMed.gov is a free research tool from the National Library of Medicine®. This one-hour, online course will show you how to use evidence-based practice when searching clinical questions using PubMed®.
