Standardize Your Research Data with the NIH Common Data Element Repository

Do you want to standardize the data you collect so it can be easily shared with colleagues and other researchers? Have you been awarded a grant that requires the use of common data elements? Do you assist researchers with the data research management lifecycle? If any of these scenarios sound familiar, this course is for you!

Standardize Your Research Data with the NIH Common Data Element Repository – On Demand

This interactive, on-demand course is intended to introduce researchers and librarians to common data elements (CDEs) and how to use the NIH Common Data Element Repository.

Through demonstrations and hands-on exercises, this course will introduce you to common data elements (CDEs) and the NIH Common Data Element Repository (CDE-R). The course begins with an in-depth introduction to what CDEs are and examples of how researchers are already using them. Then, you’ll see how to search the repository and practice searching on your own.

The Research Data Services Landscape: How Do You Start And Where Does Your Library Fit In?

This course is designed as an entry point for people unfamiliar with the field of research data services in libraries. The goal is to introduce what data services librarians work on and to present information on how learners can grow in this area. This includes mentioning other trainings offered by NNLM that would further their studies in data services. Learners will be able to describe the type of work done in data services and the subtopics found in data services.

Topic Searching in PubMed: Using the Medical Subject Headings

PubMed maps your search terms to Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®) to augment your search with additional terms from the vocabulary that NLM uses to describe articles in MEDLINE®/PubMed. Take this course to better understand how PubMed uses MeSH and how you can take control of your PubMed topic searches for better precision or recall.
