PTSD Resources at Work: A Toolkit to Raise Awareness

Class Experience Level
Beginner

Raising awareness about posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and effective treatments means sharing trusted information. The National Center for PTSD (NCPTSD) is the leading expert in science and education about trauma, PTSD, and evidence-based treatments. The NCPTSD website is a one-stop location for materials and tools to support Veterans and others who have been affected by traumatic experiences, their support system (family and friends), and providers along the path to recovery. This webinar will cover PTSD and treatment basics, highlighting products and tools available on the NCPTSD website that are free to use and share. Specific focus will be given to the PTSD Awareness Month campaign and talking points for librarians and public health educators.

About our Speaker

Rebecca Matteo, PhD is a health science specialist and Web Content Manager for the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (NCPTSD).  Dr. Matteo earned a doctorate in medical sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to her role writing, editing, and organizing content on the NCPTSD website, she collaborates on research about mental health literacy and sociocultural dynamics of trauma and PTSD. She serves as project manager for a series of short animated “explainer” videos for the public and contributes to the management of the PTSD Repository, a database of clinical trials for the treatment of PTSD.

NCPTSD is a center of excellence within the Department of Veterans Affairs whose experts across six divisions aim to translate science about trauma, PTSD, and recovery into the practice of clinical care. The Center’s staff serve Veterans, their families, the providers who work with them, and all who have experienced trauma through research and education to improve treatment and well-being.
