NNLM Region 1 Listening Session: All Things Data!

We want to hear from you! Data is an emerging area of interest and focus for many librarians and information professionals. What challenges or barriers have you encountered in learning about or working with data? What programs or services do you offer (or want to offer) in your community to engage in data literacy? 

NNLM supports the goals of the NLM Strategic Plan 2017-2027: A Platform for Biomedical Discovery and Data-Powered Health. Two of the key goals of this plan are to accelerate discovery and advance health through data-driven research and to build a workforce for data-driven research and health. Through funding, education, and outreach, the Network serves as a resource for librarians, students, and interested individuals to learn about library roles in data science and data management and emerging trends in supporting biomedical research.

NNLM Region 1 is hosting a Listening Session focused on data. This session is for Region 1 members to share their experience with data education and discuss what programs or resources they would like to see to further their learning and increase their data capacity!

Questions we plan to discuss:

• What barriers have you (or your patrons) encountered in participating in data education?
• What classes or webinars offered by the NNLM have most interested you?
• What data problems or data challenges have you (or your patrons) faced?
• What kind of opportunities would you like to see the NNLM provide in supporting your data efforts?

We hope this session will also help Region 1 Network Members connect with other data-minded or data-curious colleagues from across the region. Please come prepared to actively participate (multiple methods will be available).
