As the NNLM Region 4 Communication Specialist, I focus on leading Region 4’s bi-directional communication strategy. I have an MLIS from the University of Washington and a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland.

Participants will learn about the community in which their library is located and develop skills to build constructive relationships and bridge cultural differences. |
| Course 1: Building Successful Collaborations with Communities: Community-Based Librarianship | This 2-week online course introduces the concept of community-based librarianship using design theory and appreciative inquiry. |
| Course 2: Building Successful Collaborations with the Communities: Asset-Based Community Development | This 2-week course describes the principles of Asset-Based Community Development as a tool for building community coalition and for community storytelling. |
| Course 3: Building Successful Collaborations with the Communities: Collective Impact | This 2-week online course describes the essential elements of Collective Impact approach to community engagement, based on design theory. |
| Course 4: Building Successful Collaborations with the Communities: Grassroots Leadership | This 2-week online course uses the knowledge and tools presented in previous courses of the series, and explores the process to construct a framework for a community development initiative and the role of librarians in grassroots leadership activism. |
| Lightning Talks: Health Connect of South Dakota, Moby Bookmobile at Arapaho Indian Health Services, Mullerian Anomalies | Region 4’s lighting presentations will feature speakers from a variety of organizations who have received NNLM grants to improve health education and literacy with an emphasis on serving minority populations. |
