Improving prostate cancer health information access for rural older adults in North Carolina: A usability evaluation of a digita University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - School of Information & Library Science Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among men in the United States. The information needs of prostate cancer patients and their families are particularly pressing due to the complexity of treatment options, many of which can significantly impact patients’ quality of life. Older men living in rural areas experience disproportionately higher mortality rates from prostate cancer than peers in urban areas. Enhancing Technological Infrastructure to Improve Health Information Access and Care Quality LSJ Resilience Project This proposal seeks funding from the NNLM to enhance the technological infrastructure of a Level III group home in North Carolina serving youth with complex behavioral and mental health needs. By implementing digital health tools, improving internet connectivity, and training staff and residents in accessing credible biomedical and health information, this project aims to align with NNLM's mission of improving public health through equitable access to health information.
Health Literacy in the Laundromat: A Place-Based Outreach Model Civic Suds Corporation Civic Suds will launch Health Literacy in the Laundromat, a place-based outreach initiative designed to increase access to trustworthy health information among underserved families in Washington, D.C. and Maryland. Connected Camden: Public Wi-Fi and Environmental Monitoring at Community Art Spaces Cooper Medical School of Rowan University The Connected Camden pilot project will invest in the purchase and deployment of mesh Wi-Fi technology in Camden, New Jersey, as a key step toward addressing digital and health information inequities.
