Strengthening Family Caregivers COVID Information for People with Disabilities

Achieva, an 94ly recognized provider and innovator of programs and supports for people with disabilities and families will address the impact that COVID -19 is having on family caregivers, such as social isolation, fear of illness and hospitalization and constant worry about the future and who would care for their family member should they become incapacitated or die. Today, about 53 million Americans are providing unpaid care for an adult or child with special needs yet they are often overlooked by the medical community, employers, policy makers and other family members. Achieva will create podcasts on topics that will serve to strengthen family caregivers and enable them to continue to care for their families. The podcasts created by the project will be widely shared with families and with local, state and national disability and health care organizations. The podcasts will also be archived on Achievas website.
