Host Your Own Data Workshop with The Carpentries (December 2022-April 2023) NNLM Region 4 is seeking NNLM member institutions to host an online workshop facilitated by The Carpentries ( Data Carpentry, Library Carpentry, or Software Carpentry) before April 30, 2022. Each workshop includes seats for 25 data interested people. NNLM Region 4 covers the Carpentries workshop fee. Awardees will host the workshop and will coordinate with The Carpentries to produce the workshop. Network member organizations in Region 5 are eligible to apply. Only one award per Network member organization will be made during the current grant year. Awards will be available on an ongoing basis until funds are depleted. Payment will be made to the applicant’s host institution.

To receive funding, applicant’s institution must invoice the University of Washington (UW) no later than March 17, 2023. In order to invoice the UW, the institution must be registered as a UW supplier (for information on registering, see UW Supplier Registration.

Region 4 Professional Development Awards Year 3 (2023-2024) $2,000

The purpose of the Professional Development Award is to strengthen the professional knowledge and experience of individual network members in health data related services or health information access/delivery, build professional capacity in support of the mission of the NNLM, and enable libraries and other organizations to train staff in skills needed to deliver reliable health information.

The overarching purpose of this funding to build partnerships and collaborations with local community groups and other key groups to reach underserved populations with health information outreach projects that use community-driven approaches designed to increase access to health information by working through libraries and other members to support a highly trained workforce in biomedical, health information, and data science resources.

Projects should be in support the Region 4 Core Aims, the mission of the NNLM, and the  NLM 2017-2027 Strategic Plan.
