Diabetes Awareness Webinar

Class Experience Level
Beginner

The Diabetes Awareness Webinar was designed to educate participants on the prevalence, risk factors, prevention strategies, and management of diabetes, with a particular focus on communities disproportionately affected by the disease. The session emphasized the growing impact of diabetes on public health and highlighted the importance of early detection, lifestyle modification, and access to reliable health information.

During the webinar, speakers discussed the differences between Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes, common warning signs, and the role of nutrition, physical activity, and routine screenings in reducing risk. Participants also learned about the connection between diabetes and other chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease and mental health challenges. Practical strategies for managing diabetes, such as medication adherence, blood glucose monitoring, and patient–provider communication, were shared to support long-term health outcomes.

The webinar concluded with a discussion addressing barriers to diabetes prevention and care, such as limited access to resources. Attendees were provided with credible educational resources and community-based tools to support diabetes awareness, prevention, and self-management. Overall, the session reinforced the importance of informed decision-making, community engagement, and preventive care in reducing the burden of diabetes.
