This class is no longer accepting registrations

We are excited to offer a Library Carpentry workshop on April 9-11, 2024 for our NNLM Members in order to learn about steps and tools for quality, efficiency, and reproducibility in research. Priority registration will be given to members in these states and territories: Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Library Carpentry focuses on building software and data skills within library and information-related communities. Their hands-on, approachable workshops empower people in a variety of roles to use software and data in their own work and support effective, efficient, reproducible practices. Learn more about Library Carpentry on their website.

In this 3-day interactive, hands-on virtual workshop you will learn core data skills to help you build confidence in working with data in library- and information-related settings. During the April 2024 workshop, we will be covering the following lessons:

The target audience is as follows: learners who have little to no prior computational experience, and the instructors put a priority on creating a friendly environment to empower learners and enable data-driven discovery. Even those with some experience will benefit, as the goal is to teach not only how to do analyses, but how to manage the process to make it as automated and reproducible as possible. Biomedical and health sciences librarians and LIS students are encouraged to participate.

Logistics:

This workshop will be held via Zoom, from 9:30am – 3:00pm EST each day. There will be optional Tech Setup Help offered 9:00-9:30am EST before each session.
